The collection
Find your fit
Answer three questions and we will point you at the right steel and length.
What are you grooming? — Coat type, density, and whether you work wet or dry.
How hard does your bench run? — A few dogs a week, or a full book every day.
Then try it for 30 days. — If the pair doesn't suit your hand, send it back.
By use
Convex-ground. Hand-honed. Tension-set by hand.
Every pair leaves our bench with a convex (hamaguri) edge at roughly 55° inclusive, honed by hand rather than machine-polished. Convex geometry puts more steel behind the edge, so it survives dense coat and the occasional knock against a table. Tension is set by hand on the screw, not by feel-good torque — because a pair that runs dry or folds coat is a pair you stop reaching for.
| Blade geometry | Convex (hamaguri) — slices cleanly, resists folding |
|---|---|
| Edge angle | Approx. 55° inclusive, hand-finished |
| Pivot | Adjustable tension screw |
| Handle | Offset / crane / swivel — fitted to hand size |
| Finish | Mirror polish or satin |
Pet grooming
Grooming shears carry different demands to barber shears: denser coat, more curved work, more hours in the hand. So the pet range gets a blunt safety tip you can take around a paw pad, a longer blade so you make fewer passes on a thick coat, a wider spring that does not exhaust your thumb, and a deeper curve for hocks and feet.
| Blade curve | Deep curve — follows body contours |
|---|---|
| Tip | Safety-blunt or sharp, your choice |
| Ring size | Wider — fits gloved hands |
| Steel | 440C (standard) or VG-10 (premium) |
After the sale
A shear is a tool you keep. These are the terms that keep it cutting.
Lifetime edge warranty — if our edge fails, we make it right.
First sharpening free — the first time it needs a service, that one is on us.
Sharpening service after that — send it back and we put a fresh convex edge on it.
From the chair
I switched from a pair that cost twice as much. Six months in, these hold an edge just as long and the swivel ring has completely sorted my thumb strain.
The mill certificate in the box is what sold me. I have been burned by "Japanese steel" claims before — this time the paperwork actually matched the blade.
I groom dogs all day. The curve on the pet shear is genuinely different from a converted human shear — it gets under the paw without nicking.
